The Shop with a Cop Foundation hosted their annual Heroes & Helpers Breakfast in which students from Santee Elementary were rrecognized for their reading efforts. The Readers are Leaders Program has been extremely beneficial as we continue to work on closing the achievement gap, and at a school where over 70% of students are English Language Learners, the reading programs have continued to be of huge benefit. We know that all learning is built on the foundation of reading. It is amazing to see over 70 students participating in the Heroes & Helpers Shopping Spree as a result of making substantial growth in reading.

song about Christmas came a little early today for some kids in the South Bay they got to shop for presents with the help of the bay area's finest this is the annual Shop with a cop event San Jose Sharks player Joel Ward was there to help celebrate ABC 7 news reporter Matt Keller was there you at the breakfast at Santa Clara University admission for the kids started filling out their Christmas list that's a big friend I got a lot of help here Bullseye the dog here at Target and we're helping out ever we got all the officers and all the kids who are shopping at the checkout line This Is The Moment they've been waiting for all morning long here in San Jose Elementary School for Children from the readers are leaders reading camp another 25 kids were chosen after living through a traumatic event like the loss of a parent or other tragedies student gets $150 Target gift card to shop for gifts for their families and themselves we do have a list so it is very very structured is the getting back I'm only looking you looking for some Legos right now Alaskan officer here they would not want to be somewhere else right now behind the badge and create a relationship between the police and the kids and so many people are helping out with this money Serena Police Department here helping out there sooner Santee Elementary School getting everything on the Target gift card 150 bucks to get 10% off as well here at Target we got the house here we got the cat out of the garbage bag they have you all their presents students are buying a gift for their family members so they want to keep it a surprise at least till December 25th and they're going to be out here till about noon today when they wrap up and all their Christmas gifts will have been fun
