The US Department of Education reports that the number of STEM/STEAM jobs in the United States will grow by 14% from 2010 to 2020, growth that the Bureau of Labor Statistics terms as “much faster “ than the national average of 5-8 % across all job sectors. Recognizing the large need to expose students to a high quality STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) learning environment, Sylvandale Middle School will be unveiling their latest interactive lab. The STEAM Lab will be available to students at the Middle School to explore careers in computer science, coding, digital media, and much more.

Middle School in San Jose unveiled its new stem lab the lab will give chance early exposure to some high-tech tools from forest Charles Clifford has details unveiled its new stem lab on Wednesday the opportunity for kids to go in and get some first-hand experience with some really cool technology have a lab has dozens of computers and numerous workstations that gives students an opportunity to try their hand at a variety of topics including studying Alternative Energy computer science Child Development robotics computer and digital music production video production lifetime nutrition and wellness personal finance and also design and marketing lab was paid for through grant money the goal is really for kids to find their passion lot of times kids aren't exposed to this sort of tack until they're in high school or possibly even into college principal says they want exposed kids in middle school to this sort of technology to hopefully keep them interested in education we find that a lot of kids drop out between Middle School High School in California so we can get them engaged now and finding their passion then they have a better chance of staying with school and being engaged going into high school students are in the class room for an entire year two semesters the principal said she hopes that in the future they can get more kids interested in the program in San Jose Charles Clifford at KRON 4 News
