The District in partnership with First 5 of Santa Clara County and the Franklin-McKinley Children's Initiative, a program of Catholic Charities celebrated the grand opening of the new Family Resource Center at Lairon College Prep Academy. This center will serve the Seven Trees Community with a focus on school readiness, healthy development, and family engagement. In addition, the campus also welcomed the new Wellness Center that will provide students with support services such as group and individual counseling. The Wellness Center will have social work interns and various community partners who focus on mental health services such as Uplift on site to provide direct services on campus.

On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, the Board of Education approved Resolution 2018-24, affirming our commitment to recognizing LGBTQ Pride Month to provide a continuing opportunity for all people in our community to learn about the discrimination and inequality that has faced, and continues to face, LGBTQ people. We will continue to be safe and inclusive for all students and their families, regardless of their sexual orientation. On Friday, June 1, 2018 we hosted a Flag Raising Ceremony in honor of FMSD’s commitment to safe and inclusive schools.
