CORAL AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Franklin-McKinley School District has partnered with Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County to provide extended day programs to students across the District. Catholic Charities offers the CORAL program, which has been in existence in Franklin-McKinley School District since 2003. CORAL is a K-8 after-school program that focuses on improving academic achievement through literacy and homework support. In addition, CORAL sports and other enrichment activities are provided at each of the 16 school sites.

The CORAL program’s mission is to improve the academic achievement of young people through out-of-school programs by involving students, families, schools, and community-based organizations.

LITTLE HEROES AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Little Heroes Inc. is a non-profit organization with a 501c(3) designation incorporated in 2011. The program employs full-time coaches to facilitate fun and safe recess activities including skills development classes, sports tournaments, after-school programs/sports leagues, and recess games. These opportunities encourage students to lead active and healthy lifestyles. 

The Little Heroes 2.0 is an after-school mentor program held Monday - Thursday from the end of school until 5:00 pm at every FMSD school. The program includes after school tutoring, academic support and a full sports and fitness curriculum. The coach onsite is responsible for working with parents and staff to hand select up to twenty students in need of extra support with the aim of academic improvement and personal and communal enrichment.

Little Heroes 2.0 is proven to cultivate a strong sense of bonding and community and creates yet another avenue for students and staff to come together in unity, positivity and edification. Here, coach and staff are working together and instilling the virtues of health, education, respect, ownership, empowerment, success (H.E.R.O.E.S.) and a strong sense of belonging.

SAN JOSE JAZZ PROGRESSIONS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Progressions offers music education, homework support, life and social-emotional skills, nutrition, and recreational programming to Franklin-McKinley School District students grades 2-8 at four school sites (Santee Elementary School, Jeanne R. Meadows Elementary School, Robert F. Kennedy Elementary School, and Bridges Academy). The year-round program is staffed by committed, caring adults who prepare students to succeed in school, career and life.
