Transportation
The mission of the Franklin-McKinley School District Transportation Department is to provide safe, reliable, and cost-effective services for students. The Transportation Services Department provides school bus transportation for students in Special Education, limited home-to-school students, and field trips.
The fleet is composed of more than twenty-four (24) District-owned buses including seven (7) electric buses.

To find out if your child qualifies for transportation services, please contact the Transportation Services Department at (408) 283-6080. The Transportation Department phone line is available from 6:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. during regular school days. In case of an emergency after hours, please contact the Student Wellness and Support Services at (408) 283-6092.

FMSD Schools
- $5.00 per mile
- $65.00 per hour / $70.00 per hour after 4:00 pm and on weekends or holidays

Outside Districts
- $5.80 per mile
- $72.00 per hour/ $82.00 per hour after 4:00 pm and on weekends or holidays
FMSD Out-of-State Field Trips

For FMSD Out- of- State trips, the Out-of-State Travel Pre-approval form needs to be submitted along with the Field Trip request. It can be sent via Pony or e-mail to the State and Federal Department.
Community-Based Organization or Local School Request

If you are a community-based organization or local school outside of the District and would like to request school bus services, please fill out the Outside Agency Field Trip Request Form below.

Please Note: Deadline to submit Field Trip Requests is on March 1st of each school year. This includes field trip requests from March 1st to June 30th.

Transact Outside Agency Field Trip Request Form - Application Instruction
Users must register by entering their school email address to access the system. Click on the link above and look for the New Registration link to take new users to the registration tab. When your registration is submitted, you will receive an email that contains a link you must click to activate your registration. You should receive this email within 30 minutes of your registration. If you don't, please check your spam. Your email address will be your login.
