The Transportation Services Department provides school bus transportation for students in Special Education, limited home-to-school students, and field trips. Below you will find everything you need to register for bus services, review rules and policies, and request transportation for field trips.
2025-2026 Student Transportation Registration is now Open!
Deadline: May 30, 2025
As the school year draws to a close and planning begins for 2025–2026, we’re excited to announce that general bus registration is now open! To register, simply complete the Bus Registration Form linked below - the form is also available in Vietnamese and Spanish. Please ensure that you enter the correct school name and select the appropriate school year when filling out the form.

Eligibility, Routes & Services
Pursuant to EC 39800.1 Franklin-McKinley School District is pleased to offer free transportation services to eligible general education students attending its schools. To find out if your child is eligible for transportation services, please click here for more information or you may also contact our Transportation Department at 408) 283-6080.
Rules & Regulations for Parents and Students
To find out if your child qualifies for transportation services, please contact the Transportation Services Department at (408) 283-6080. The Transportation Department phone line is available from 6:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. during regular school days. In case of an emergency after hours, please contact the Student Wellness and Support Services at (408) 283-6092.

Notice of Transportation Rules & Regulations for Parents and Students

Updated: Regulation 3541: Transportation Routes And Services (Board Approved on April 22, 2025)
This is a revision to the current Administrative Regulation (AR) 3541 to update the existing transportation routes and services implemented district-wide to address the impact of school closures and grade reconfiguration on the transportation needs of students. Staff also considered the requirements established under Education Code (EC) § 39800.1, which states that school districts “shall develop a plan describing the transportation services it will offer to its pupils and how it will prioritize planned transportation services for pupils in transitional kindergarten through 6th grade and pupils who are low income.”
Field Trip Transportation Requests
We are excited to announce that the Transportation Services Department is transitioning to electronic submission . This initiative aims to enhance convenience and streamline processes for everyone involved. We will be using Travel tracker to facilitate us in our field trip request reservation.
Important Deadline
🗓️ All Field Trip Requests must be submitted by March 1st of each school year.
This deadline applies to all field trips scheduled between March 1st and June 30th.

How to Register
To register and/or login with the Travel Tracker application. Users must register by entering their school email address to access the system. Click on the link above and look for the New Registration link to take new users to the registration tab. When your registration is submitted, you will receive an email that contains a link you must click to activate your registration. You should receive this email within 30 minutes of your registration. If you don't, please check your spam. Your email address will be your login.
How to Submit a Field Trip Request
To submit a field trip request - After registration/logging in, you may start submitting the field trip request. In order to assist you, you may watch this video for step-by-step instructions.
For the approvers - How to Approve - We have provided a link to our training video for requesters (found below) regarding requesting a trip and viewing your existing requests. After watching the training video, please get in touch with the Transportation Team at 408-283-6070 if you need additional training.
Transportation Rates for Field Trips
To ensure clarity and consistency, the following transportation rates apply for field trips based on the type of organization or destination. Please review the applicable rates below.

FMSD Out-of-State Field Trips
For out-of-state trips involving FMSD schools, an Out-of-State Travel Pre-Approval Form must be submitted along with the Field Trip Request Form. Please send both documents via Pony or email to Ed Services Department.
Community-Based Organizations & Local Schools (Outside the District)
