Independent Study Program (ISP)

Franklin-McKinley School District offers flexible Independent Study options designed to help students stay connected to learning during periods when they cannot attend school in person.Depending on the length and circumstances of the absence, students may participate in Short-Term or Long-Term Independent Study

Long-Term Independent Study

Long Term ISP is an Independent Study option for students who are looking for an alternative educational program in grades 4th-8th. FMSD’s Independent Study Program will continue to align with the vision of providing an educational experience that supports students who desire a more challenging educational experience, whose health or other personal circumstances make classroom attendance difficult, and/or who are unable to access course(s) due to scheduling problems (BP 6158).

To register for ISP, please complete this form.  It is important that you complete each field so that Student Services has the appropriate information to move forward with enrollment.  Once the Student Services department receives the completed form, someone will reach out to schedule a time for guardians to complete the ISP Agreement.

 

Short Term Independent Study Independent Study  Program 

Our voluntary Short Term Independent Study program is available for 2-15 days.  This program allows students to stay on track with learning when they need to be absent for a short period (such as illness, appointments, family emergencies, or personal reasons). Students complete their assignment at home and receive attendance credit once the work is submitted. This option differs from requests beyond 1 day, as there is no advance notice required and it is requested directly through the school site’s office secretary.

One-Day Independent Study
