Substitute Teaching
Our current salary has increased - $200/day and $100/half-day (4 hours or less). Retired Franklin-McKinley School District teachers earn $285/day. Long-term pay is $250/day starting on the 21st day of the same assignment, retroactive to the first day of the assignment. Thank you for choosing to support students and learning in FMSD.

The following items and an application are needed to complete the process:
- Emergency 30-day Substitute Permit or valid California Teaching Credential (registered with the Santa Clara County Office of Education)
- Fingerprint Clearance for Franklin-McKinley School District ($40 cash, EXACT amount)
- Original Social Security Card and Driver’s License (photo identification)
- Negative TB test results within the last three years

Interpreters
Interpreters for the School District may be required for a variety of assignments, including but not limited to parent workshops and Individualized Education Plan meetings.
The following items and applications are needed to complete the process:

Passing of Exam which includes multiple-choice, written translations, writing, and oral questions

Fingerprint Clearance for Franklin-McKinley School District ($40 cash, EXACT amount)

Original Social Security Card and photo identification

Negative TB test results within the last four years
Passing the exam is required for this position and is administered by appointment, between 8 am - 3 pm, an appointment is required. Please contact Krystal Mercado, Administrative Assistant Human Resources at (408) 283-6015 to schedule a time to take the exam.
