rules eliminated some of these just because we felt they were not going to work for a student eliminated ones where we weren't going to be able to see our students because strongly that the parents have told us that they wanted the children to come back to school or they wanted to make sure that if there's teams for Injustice learning that there was some kind of interaction going on with their children so there was instruction going on at the same time so this is what the recommendation was narrowed down to this to call in a V2 day Rich motivation and what it means is that a class say it's a or even a 7th grade class would be broken up into two cohorts cohort a cohort B and then stay home on Tuesday or just miss morning they would come back to school on Wednesday it stay home on Thursday and they stayed home on Friday so if your uncle Barbie you're just doing the opposite of the other cohort the two-day rotation is because the students are coming School 2 days a week for most of the day they are learning with their teacher they are they come in half the cohort so we don't have as many kids in a classroom so that allows for more social justice and we'll talk about the safety and health precautions that would be taken here but this one was selected because we felt it was a blended model that could work really well with our students and the Friday they would then be a teacher day to meet with other teachers to plan instruction to participate in training to check in on students to see how they're doing with Justice here are the benefits to the hybrid a b a 2 day rotation I mentioned a few of them this can only work if we're able to disinfect classrooms everyday which we were assured by our main Department of the benefit was that we see our students every other day we did explore having the students come back to back two days like say Monday and Tuesday and then stay home for justifying the rest of the week or steak the school Thursday and Friday and staying home for the rest of the days we really felt like seeing the students every other day was better for the students that too many days apart we saw the students would need social interaction and also the consistency in the continuity instruction it also allows students to access any kind of support mental health support build on their social emotional learning this kind of a model of helps teachers get the time they need for planning and also with this model does more than Porton than anything is that in case we have to go to school distance learning we could easily do that in case we have to close schools down a little bit closed schools again for special education on the recommendation would be that students who receive Services resource specialist speech and language repeat me that would all be done remotely so that the students could access instruction on those in person days and so a student with an IEP could come to school essay on Monday and Wednesday and e-services on the other days and that would allow the students have full access to the m person training but also receive the student services so in an effort parents have to offer one is hybrid which I just subscribed two days a week 3 days distance learning or the other option for families who are not comfortable sending this to rent for in person would be a virtual learning model which would be a teacher assigned to your student and they will participate in learning activities be a distance learning using a very specific curriculum that's been design and developed for 100% virtual learning so do you want me to do the Health and Wellness so these are recommendations that the County Public Health on June 30th and so these were some of the guiding principles in regards to how do we make sure we have protocols and procedures in place to try to keep the virus from spreading apart of the recommendations face mask on face coverings whenever possible When there's less than 60 sure that our students are always you know how face coverings that the classroom speaker if we have half the students on each of the cohort maximum class size for tickets for third would be 12 and then for 4 through 8 would be maximum of 16 students we would have a process in which to screen on both adults and students as they come to school and this way with ensure that we are adults or students, Maybe taking a recommendation to the board that it when we are allowed is it a conditions to have an in-person instruction that we would be working on the KB mod as the model that we committee believes we can Implement safely if that is what the board choose obviously we know that there's things are changing everyday and so there may be indicated we are also working on the business learning so that if we are having to go full distance learning at the beginning of the year or less that we already have the procedures and everything in place for us to be able to I'll provide support for students in that way so at this point where you know we're asking you know for in from our community stakeholders parents and staff as we continue to refine our process and ensure that we are being responsive to half is doing distance learning and then the next day they basically split so that this way we are able to keep the class sizes low and maximize social distancing by only having the students are any it was at the end of the year that was kind of a hot mess and I'm not really getting a confident and the structure that the virtual learning is going to have any we've decided we're going to keep our son home but I noticed that there's going to be some kind of portal what about the teachers that the teachers are teaching you know what the Tuesdays at what the cohorts who's going to be teaching online students and then for the older kids are they going to have multiple teachers for different subjects are we going to have an actual portal that we can go in but I got to have like classes set up as compared to like say Mania a K12 online program I just want to make sure that they're not going to fall behind and then it's going to be completely structured and I know there's not that much time until school starts are they going to be ready for that Virtual School choose to just be completely at home and not consider the the same person versus me with us at the beginning or throughout the year that actually is a self-contained platform that a teacher will also be a working with the students and don't be obviously we'll try to group the students depending on how many students we have by grade level so that the teachers able to support them in a greater way but it's an actual self-contained platform that has all the subject matter bike in there and finding students the work interfacing with the teacher so that's for the students that are completely online and not going to be wanting to ever be in that you know in person however it looks very similar to the platform has been around for a long time this is what a lot of teach a lot of parents use when they're homeschooling students when they want to do some independent work cancel that's why we were chosen that model for those that are completely you know said longtime I'm not going to send my child to school even if it's a day or two days or power because that is much better much more manageable from parent and question is for the kids who will do distance learning hundred percent at home my question is basically that's a since everything is new for distance learning let's say if it's not that effective with them if we see that there's some things that are behind or anything with distance learning will they have an option to go back with the same grade level the following school year or let's say cuz my my kid is going to be second grade so will will we have an option for her to say second grade again for the school year just in case we didn't see that. Improvement in the skills and the knowledge that we won for the kids chair so that's that's something that we can work we would work with you through our process which is our attention process we have a whole process and Bridge to the whether a student should be retained for whatever reason were there is in this case you know the situation so we would be working with parents to make the best decision for children so I wouldn't say yes or no I'm just we will follow our regular process of retention I wish your parents are are apart of of that whole process Andrew oh yeah my question is what about the the parents that work full-time in that empty home with the students those two days a week when they're online how's that going to work I was just doing just like some some students can't be left home alone. because I know that that is there a challenge and that's one of the reasons why the question in regards to a child care if they're staying at home I know that that's going to be a challenge for for many families and and you know the the biggest thing that we're trying to do is have a a process in which weekend support our students in and not spread the virus and knowing that having all students return to our schools it's not what workout that are anybody's recommending so you know those are things that we're trying to work with our partners are city and county to see how we can safely also our work environment or whatnot would that be interchangeable to switch to the second one or is there going to be a spot like halfway through the year we get to choose again or is that going to work after work with with our family or families in regards to how how to better assign the cohort you know at one point is there may be an opportunity to which if their numbers allow for that but it's for example if we if you're in third grade and there's 24 students in the classroom and their 12 a piece and there's no room to switch to another cohort we have to see it was an opportunity for another teacher or something else if that was absolutely amazed for or a parent you know at this time the one thing that I can try to work with families as much as we can within the restrictions we have to make this work for everybody I know that this is something that is going to be challenging for our families and our schools and and we have to do our best to try and and and work with you on what is in the best interests of the entire community and in the best interest of your child I think we also have to keep in mind that the public health office has also indicated that keeping the kids in the with staff and parents and students in regards to the platform how do I actually use it in regards to the having to We Will Follow the events of guidance and regards to how to manage if somebody were to be somebody would be positive to the guidelines that came out on June 30th about if a student or staff member test positive at school what would be the steps that we would take what would be the notification impact and so part of why Public Health wants to have the small Coke or stable groups is to make sure that if but he went to s+ but they will be able to contain it and trace it and so therefore there may be a need for add this whole school to shut down for a day or two or we're depending on the situation so we would be working with public house and many other such situations to take the necessary steps for oral for students and staff to be safe and then. question was in regards to some of the other districts that are choosing to do business morning and so that's one of the things that we are also working on a hybrid without using the highway when we are able to do in person but knowing that we may have to start full distance learning and that's something that we will be discussing with our board on Wednesday and sightseeing in hybrid or if we are later on in the there's a necessary for us to go to full distance morning so we want to be able to be ready for both scenarios as we support our students and our families in the best way Valerie I was just wondering I know that you said that space mask and I know that it is expired by it facials are something that we are getting from the from the state for our for our teachers as I had a level of protection and also so that in the event that the teacher wants to not use the mask on the face covering to allow for or instructions to be heard by students in a better way it's not a recognized not recommended to do one or the other but that is one of the things that the state has provided is providing to school districts as one option in public health actually for younger students is not right it's not requiring it in we want to work with our students in the best way we can so that they can practice those things but it was not so much one of those things where we're or our staff and the older students that is going to be turn the public accountant requirement but not for the little ones we just want to make sure that we continue to practice after their students and work with our students to mitigate the spread as well you know when the younger Grace we have only 12 students we are able to maximize the distance between students and greater weight and we are for our older students which is 16 my phone question is for kids with school district still provide school bus services so for any student that is every that gets bus services with students with special needs or our general lab that normally get on bus bus bus to the schools we will continue to provide transportation is right now weather the students do morning vs. afternoon based on whether it's there in person day or their distance day that you consider alternating you don't have a morning cohort and an afternoon core hose and alternator part of the day is in person versus distance based on that so that you still have that same alternating thing but the students have the same schedule every day that would certainly be a lot easier for me as a parent if it is rearrange my employer you know I've got to deal with my kids school obligation during these hours every day versus well it's B's hours on this day and this day and these other hours on this day in this day and so I'd like to propose that maybe the the teacher can go you know in person morning on Monday and in-person afternoon on Wednesday or sorry Tuesday and vice versa and that the students would be you know distance in person distance in person in the afternoon or in person distance in person be dispensed in the morning and that way you still get the same effect without having the students schedule Bounce Around different parts of the day so that was something that was considered there's a couple challenges with that and that's why I'm the committee felt that it was not something that meant they wanted to recommend one is that creates challenges for Families 2 pick-up and drop-off Mente and then the other thing is the we don't believe we have enough time in between the morning and the afternoon to effectively disinfect the school in time for the next cohort to come in to use of the facility after the morning cohorts so those were challenges that we felt were too great for us to overcome and therefore they just counted that as one of the options Sharon okay so first of all I just want to say that if you need my spiritual Target have to be online the whole day on your special day and the virtual learning you do all your work at home and how do you submit your work and another question is it is it is only for kindergarten to 8th grade because I have to get one in the earthquake coming up this a school year and if I want he just finished the eighth grade for my ship until he's going to I think it's the interview do I need to register him already been wasted by the school so for your your 8th grader that's going to 9th he's already registered so we send all the information to the the high school district back in February so they should have already on you and roll you should be getting information from them if you haven't already done so shortly I know that he said has decided that they are going to start the work in there in the teachers able to give feedback combat when they're on the hybrid hybrid model on the days that they're in distance learning they're doing independent work on their own that they All hands on that has already been done and in the affirmations releasing already Randall I missed a cruise I have without you just got recognized in The District in and board member working really hard on this I know it's a difficult situation for you one so thank you I have a question about can you provide in or in the future providing tile when I send decision pin when sun proof of concept of the hybrid or the virtual model being developed so that we have the parent can have some idea when some of the decision take place so that we can plan better thank you we will have a we have a board meeting on Wednesday and we're asking our board to give us Direction in regards to moving forward with the hybrid model and with the possibility of starting with distance learning we will have them as a virtual as as soon as I get the contract signed with Ingenuity then we will start having you actually can go answer that website already and just look at it with what they have on there as well but we won't be able to tell you how we will implement the program you know the teachers at will teachers will be our teachers does Ingenuity and also offers their teacher says it's a distraction, but we will be signing our teachers to that and we'll send a survey out to families that want to potentially to the virtual cuz I'm that gives us information about how many teachers we can actually have in start assigning the teachers and creating those classes for for that so bad well before the start of school you already know sure as you know who you are how to program scanner work so bad you know you're comfortable with the start of school in that in that remodel so first is this Wednesday once we get more information from our border play we will then start to continue to come in and we as you know we've been communicating with you all along the way and we will continue to do that as soon as decisions are made you will know for a fact that this is how we're at we're moving and then you can make plans accordingly it looks like that is the last hand that I have raised again I thank you for the time I know this these are very difficult times for all of us I know makes it even more difficult to plan and so our goal is to do our best to plan make decisions let you know and every single time that that happens so that you can plan you can give us feedback and then we can ensure that we are providing the best education possible under the circumstances but I also know how stressful this time is 4 because we are all you know wanting to make sure they were healthy and safe and so how do we balance those two cuz it's going to be challenging but I do believe that as a community we will come together and we will do our best to starve our children and get them through this time and then you know move forward so I appreciate the time I appreciate the questions and and just in general you know I appreciate being on your willingness partner with us on behalf of your children you know that we are we have your children's best interest in mind and then we will do everything we can to keep you know them as possible right cuz I'll never be able to say that hundred percent Sade cuz nobody can do that again this time and so are we will do we will make decisions in in in that vein and and keeping students 8 and their staff say as much as possible so I thank you for the time this has been recorded it will posted to our website I recognize that you know somehow we didn't have the capacity to accommodate everybody so they'll be another one at 5:30 and we'll post that one again we have one for Viet Vietnamese that will be conducted at 2 Spanish at 4 and goes also will be recorded and impulsive so thank you for the time and have a great rest of the day thank you
