The Franklin-McKinley Children's Initiative hosted a community celebration to honor all mother's for their volunteer service and involvement in various parent workshops. Many of the mother's honored are Franklin-McKinley School District parents who volunteer in their children's schools and active in their community.

On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, the Board of Education approved Resolution 2018-24, affirming our commitment to recognizing LGBTQ Pride Month to provide a continuing opportunity for all people in our community to learn about the discrimination and inequality that has faced, and continues to face, LGBTQ people. We will continue to be safe and inclusive for all students and their families, regardless of their sexual orientation. On Friday, June 1, 2018 we hosted a Flag Raising Ceremony in honor of FMSD’s commitment to safe and inclusive schools.
