80+ students from Santee and McKinley Elementary participated in the Shop with a Cop Foundations annual breakfast and shopping spree for meeting their reading goals. The Readers are Leaders campaign focuses on improving the literacy skills of students.

what NBC 7 news reporter Matt Keller was the MC once again for the shop with a cop breakfast in the South Bay more than 150 kids were paired up with Law Enforcement Officers after the food they headed to Target for a shopping spree Matt was there for all the fun and tells us how these kids around it helpers for more than 20 different law enforcement agencies across the bay I made sure he arrived on time at Target on Coleman Avenue in San Jose but the pressure wasn't on him to deliver police officers stepped up for the 11th annual Shop with a cop Heroes & helpers holiday shopping spree 152 kids most of them from for East San Jose Elementary Schools were given $150 gift cards one of the goals is to Foster relationships between kids and police officers that everything is my heart I am I'm so moved by it I love it what you like your family just kind of friendly day where I get to have a positive encouragement on the community and build relationships with them so hopefully in a sitting outside of this it can be just like this. Earn their way here they take part in a reading challenge and must make significant growth and have perfect attendance to qualify this is the first year for students at McKinley Elementary reading in our student Beyond just the call as being able to attend today after all the shopping is done the officer and the student will come here and get a photo with Santa is over at Keller ABC 7 News
