The Franklin-McKinley School District is committed to educating the whole child, and we support all students as they become active, engaged learners. FMSD has adopted the Common Core Standards in English Language Arts and Math and uses the California Content standards in all core curricular areas.

Teachers provide high quality, standards-based, rigorous and relevant, curriculum for all students. Each student is guaranteed access to the grade level core academic instruction in English/Language Arts and Writing, Mathematics, Science and Social Science, as well as Physical Education. Middle School students who wish to pursue their interests and talents in Visual or Performing Arts are afforded the opportunity in their choice of electives.

Students receive instruction that is academically and developmentally challenging. Effective research-based strategies are implemented in all classrooms, and technology tools prepare students for college and career readiness.
