As a Transitional Kindergarten to 8th grade school district, we believe all students should have access to 21st century classrooms and school facilities. In addition, we believe:
All children deserve a well-rounded education to become lifelong learners.
Learners flourish in a nurturing, safe, and challenging environment.
Our district comprises 16 schools, including 4 Elementary Schools (TK-6), 4 Elementary Schools (K-6), 1 Elementary School (TK-3), 1 Elementary/Middle School (4-8), 2 Elementary/Middle Schools (TK-8), 1 Elementary/Middle School (K-8), and 3 Middle Schools (7-8). These schools are dedicated to preparing our children for success in tomorrow's careers through S.T.E.A.M., project-based learning, youth leadership, and college/career readiness programs.
Ensuring safe and modern classrooms and facilities is crucial for providing a high-quality education. A recent study titled "Designing Classrooms to Maximize Student Achievement" highlights the impact of the physical classroom environment on student success. Our school district places great importance on facilities master planning. In 2020, we finalized our FMSD Needs Assessment Master Plan, identifying around $729 million in requirements to upgrade and modernize the schools that serve over 7,500 students daily. To meet these needs, we are actively exploring various funding avenues, such as leveraging our existing budget, seeking state and federal funding, applying for private grants, and tapping into other forms of support.
Modern classrooms and technology will help ensure that our 7,500 students are prepared with the skills and experiences needed to be successful in college, careers, and life.
