Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Superintendent Juan Cruz visits Dahl and Stonegate Elementary Schools in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

No "Creepy Clown" Pranks in FMSD

There have been reports on social media concerning "creepy clown" sightings and pranks. All over the country, these "creepy clown" sightings share a similar theme of frightening people and threatening violence. FMSD has not received any messages referencing any of our schools. Our local law enforcement is aware of this, and they are actively monitoring social media.

FMSD is also monitoring social media and will continue to work with law enforcement. Although there have been no reports in our District, the reports are being widely circulated and many students are aware and disturbed by these stories. If you or your child observe or hear reports of any suspicious activity in or around a school site, please contact your principal immediately.

SCCOE Recognizes Thi Le-Nguyen as Teacher of the Year!

The Teacher Recognition Celebration every fall honors Santa Clara County's finest teachers, and this year, FMSD has selected Thi Le-Nguyen. She is a teacher at Jeanne R. Meadows Elementary and will be recognized this Thursday, September 29th during a special ceremony hosted by the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

Sports and Reading go Hand in Hand with Golden State Warriors

Warriors Forward James Michael McAdoo and Coach Bruce Fraser spoke to the students about the importance of reading, applying themselves academically and striving for perfect attendance throughout the school year. The students then participated in an interactive reading with McAdoo and Coach Bruce Fraser for Warriors prizes.

Three Sylvandale Students Named National Finalists in Game Design Competition

Narrowing down the forty-seven national finalists – 26 girls and 21 boys – from the 274 regional finalists, students hail from across the country from Queens, New York to Houston, Texas; Pryor, Oklahoma to Elkins, West Virginia; and Salt Lake City, Utah to San Jose, Silicon Valley. Sylvandale Finalists will travel to Austin, Texas for the final competition and awards ceremony on September 24, 2016.
