Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

Know the Warning Signs

  • Threats or comments about killing themselves, also known as suicidal ideation, can begin with seemingly harmless thoughts like “I wish I wasn’t here” but can become more overt and dangerous
  • Increased alcohol and drug use
  • Aggressive behavior
  • Social withdrawal from friends, family and the community
  • Dramatic mood swings
  • Talking, writing or thinking about death
  • Impulsive or reckless behavior
College Connection Academy is taking charge this month and raising awareness through a series of presentations they will be giving to students across their campus. Additionally, they will have posters throughout their campus with a tip line which can be contacted 24 hours a day. During their community activism class, students researched warning signs of suicidal thoughts and had a discussion as a group, lead by their teacher. Please see below for helpful resources for parents and families.
