Franklin-McKinley School District unveils its new web site today, www.fmsd.org. This clean, streamlined web presence clears out the “clutter” so the end-users can arrive at their destination in just a few clicks.
The structure of the site has changed to provide more efficient navigation and 21st century styling. One key feature is the Language Translation function at the top-right of the page. This easy-to-use feature addresses the multi-ethnic culture that makes up Franklin-McKinley School District, creating a personal and dynamic experience for the end-user.
When first accessing the site, the user may select their school or use the Navigation bar which contains academic, business, and administrative-related resources such as the Superintendent’s office or the Board of Education profile. Also in this navigation area is search bar that allows for the user to find information as quickly as possible. Parents can subscribe to the E-Newsline by visiting the News & Information section, learn about workshops available under Active Parenting Classes or locating your child's school using our School Locator application.
Connecting to each school’s site provides access to these same features, however, the information is school focused. The Our School navigation now connects you to the Principal’s Message, bell schedules, school accountability report card, uniform policy, and much more. “Latest News” are showcased on the bottom left of the page and to the right are Upcoming Events. Users can click on each of these items to get more information.
This new web presence builds upon Franklin-McKinley School District's tradition of excellence and is reinforced by a commitment to innovation; providing the community with a streamlined, user-friendly communications hub.
Just as there are major changes up front for the end-user, school and district administrators are embracing changes on the back-end. The web site has been revamped 100% which includes how pages are created and updated. Using “Edlio”, a content management system, staff can log into the site and easily update pages without knowing any HTML or having any expensive software installed.
Franklin-McKinley School District's new web presence provides end-users and site administrators with a dynamic and user-friendly experience. The future projects even more advancements that will include multimedia integration, enhanced interactivity and much more.
