LOS ARBOLES SCHOOL FOCUS & CORPORATE PARTNERS
Real Life Theme-Technology and Communication in Society
At Los Arboles, we want to teach students to be productive members in an ever-changing society. Today's world is a dynamic, high-speed, high-tech society where information available to students is multiplying at an exponential rate. To prepare our children for the future, they must experience active learning which focus on information skills: gathering, analyzing and communicating information. Our students will be engaged in hands-on, project-based activities that maximize their level of performance. Active project-based learning will occur throughout the day integrating traditional core subjects, the arts, and technology. Project-based learning will enhance hands-on investigation, inquiry learning, research and presentation skills. Technology will be embedded in all subject areas during the instructional day. Students will become regular users of technology and become technically fluent and discover how to make technology work for optimum learning. They will be able to effectively communicate their ideas.

School Partnerships
We are extremely pleased to announce that IBM has agreed to form a partnership with our school. We are looking forward to exciting times ahead. Their organization has many things to offer that include volunteers to assist with our students' technology projects during an after school program, forming a "Mouse Squad" in collaboration with our students and teacher advisors, and assisting us with grants for software and equipment. IBM offers their services primarily to middle or high school students. We will be one of the first elementary schools to form a partnership with them.

| Reading Partners |
Another rare opportunity has arisen, as Reading Partners has chosen Los Arboles to partner with as well. This organization is corporate-funded and will provide tutoring to approximately 100 students in reading. They will set up a Reading Center at our site, providing all materials and several trained reading tutors to deliver a research-based curriculum, at no charge to our school. We are looking forward to working together beginning in the 2008-2009 school year!
We are very proud and fortunate that these two powerful organizations have chosen our school to form a partnership with. Our staff, students and parents are to be commended for their dedication, committment and willingness to get involved!
