How can you help your child succeed?

A word from our Principal
Sheilah Lane

Have a “Homework Plan”. If you child struggles to complete homework on time, consider writing out a homework contract together. Spell out the details, such as when and where she/he will work. Have her/him agree to check off her assignments each evening and turn them in to her/his teacher on time.

Family involvement

Children need encouragement and support to succeed in school, and there is no better source for that support than from the family.

CTA and the California State PTA encourage families to become involved in their children's education.

Parents and the Home provides you with hands-on activities for family participation outside of the school setting.

Parents and the School offers tips and ideas for working with teachers on campus.

Download our popular brochure "Your Child’s Education Begins at Home: 7 Steps to Help Your Child Learn" in a variety of languages.

Parents remember  to drive carefully around the school and review safety rules about coming to school and going home. If you are walking, say hello to our crossing guard  who is in front of the school,  when crossing Hellyer Ave. J  Please make sure your child knows who is picking them up each day. Kindergarten and First grade parents let your  teacher also know who is picking up your child. Students are to only wait with their teacher or at the office when waiting to be picked up. Any person who has your permission to pick up your child, MUST be listed on their emergency form.

Hellyer is a uniform school, you may find  the policy here on the website or inside your child’s folder. (inside cover of the folder has general information for your review)
