Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our 2012-2013, school year is coming to an end. This year we have had a lot of successes starting with seven different awards from the district, state, and county honoring our students’ academic achievements. We met our AYP goals and our API score went up 24 points. We are inching closer to our ultimate goal of an API score over 900. We are still in the middle of state testing and all of our students are doing their best work. Everyone has worked very hard and we should have an API score over 900 this year.
To thank all of our families for supporting our students’ academic achievements we are holding a complimentary spaghetti dinner on May 14th. The dinner will start at 5:00 and will end at 6:30. Our complimentary meal will be provided by our food services department and the menu consists of spaghetti, salad, roll, water/soda, and a cookie. After dinner, you will have an opportunity to meet with FMSD School Board in the Library at 6:30 PM. At 8:00 PM, we will reconvene at 645 Wool Creek Road, where our color guard will carry the United States Flag and California State Flag to start the FMSD School Board district level meeting. Thanks to the help and dedication of Mrs. Waite and Ms. Bartelstein, our color guard participants will carry our nation’s colors with pride.
Sylvandale Middle School orientation for incoming 7th grade students will take place at Ramblewood School on May 14th at 5:00 PM. After the meeting, you are invited to attend the spaghetti dinner in the cafeteria.
BBQ LUNCH FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS
On May 28th our cafeteria staff will be holding a BBQ lunch for students and their parents. The cost of the lunch for adults is $4.25 and for children, who are not students, it is $2.25. The lunch schedule is as follows:
PM Kindergarten students eat lunch at 10:30
AM Kindergarten students eat lunch at 11:30
1st - 3rd grade students will go to lunch at 11:00
4th - 6th students go to lunch at 11:50.
We look forward to your lunch time visit!
END OF THE YEAR
End of the year activities are fast approaching. The talent show will be held at two different times; one for students during the school day on May 28th and for the community on Thursday, May 30th at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria.
ATTENDANCE NEWS
Attendance in school is very important for your child’s education. Research shows that for every day a child misses school it takes three school days to catch up. Be sure to send your children to school every day. Our average attendance at Ramblewood is usually around 98.7%. This year we were hit hard with the flu and other illnesses and our average daily attendance since December has slipped to 95%. Our goal for the year is 99% average daily attendance. Do your best to keep your child healthy so they will be able to attend school daily.
